News and Updates.....

I'll start with an apology, we had a lovely day with our Strip Cushion Workshop and as of yet we haven't shown you any snaps. The ladies did a sterling job and produced beautiful work and all went home happy with finished cushions, so we'll get some snaps up soon.

We've had some smashing weather and I'm sure like us you've been making the most of it. Unfortunately it's also been a bumper year for the cabbage white butterflies and our greens look like lace doilies, they even managed to lay through the netting. We've decided we'll call it 'helping nature' and leave them to it.

With family visiting over the summer, we ventured to Fowey Regatta and the splendid Red Arrows display, here's a few photos...
perfect sailing weather
the Red Arrows doing their wonderful display...

In this next photo you can see we're standing on a hill and the display passes right in front of us, there are two red planes in the centre of the photo.

Now back to business. You may have noticed we are only doing a few workshops this Autumn, the reason for that is this...

So, as you can imagine we are going to be busy making items to sell, generally get ourselves organized and persuading our lovely students to display their work, hint hint ladies!
It's a little bit daunting but at the same time we are very excited and raising money for a very worthy cause "Help for Heroes".

Here are our diary dates at Fraddon Village Hall
Manipulated Fabric Workshop Thursday 12th September 10am-4pm
Fabric Collage Workshop (NEW) Thursday 24th October 10am-4pm
Marvellous Markals Workshop (NEW) Thursday 14th November 10am-4pm
Open Day Thursday 5th Dec 11am-4pm

All the information can be found on our web site.

Thanks for popping by and please visit again soon.

FOQ Outing....

I've gathered myself together now after two wonderful days at the FOQ.

I'm going to start by saying a massive thank you to Karen from Roselyn Coaches who we travelled with. What a star, she never stopped attending to us for the whole of the two days and with the help of her daughter, kept us supplied with teas and coffees on our journey, thank you Sarah.
Our hotel was comfortable, the food was tasty (and the wine) and only a short coach ride from the NEC in the safe hands of our driver, thank you Dean. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience which both Carolyn and myself are looking forward to next year.

Before I show you a few snaps here's a little peek at some of our goodies...
nice bundles of Egyptian cotton and scrim for dyeing
I thought it would be easier to show you a few overall views rather than individual quilts...

Sorry if I snapped anyone in full flow, but there's never a moment to take a photo without catching someone.

After watching a few demo's and seeing the masses of beautiful quilts in all their glory, our heads were buzzing and our fingers itching. I can't wait for our next get together in the sewing shed and get stuck into our goodies.

But in the mean time, can we tempt you to join us for our Strip Cushion Workshop this Thursday 15th August at Fraddon Village Hall 10am - 4pm.
Strip Cushion
There's still time to book and it's an excellent way to use up any fabric strips from previous project or jelly rolls or as in the picture above, recycle using old denim jeans, corduroy and my daughters silk blouse.
The Quilt-As-You-Go method we use is quick and easy and suitable for all levels abilities, with a few prairie point, fillets and lace thrown in for added interest.

As usual all the information can be found on our web site, we look forward to hearing from you and I think we will have returned to earth by then.

Before I leave you, have you noticed what a wonderful year this has been for bumble bees, at any one time I'm counting into double figures on our lavender.

Thanks for dropping by, back soon
Sue

Diary Dates.........

Hi everyone,

Creativity is taking a back seat for a minute as I am chief nurse, administrating drops every two hours to no.1 man who had eye surgery this week. The only bonus was our daughters came home for the week, I was glad of their company on Wednesday as we spent the whole day waiting at the hospital.

Here are our workshop dates for August & September.....

15th August - Strip Cushion Workshop at Fraddon Village Hall

3rd September - Tulip Vessel Workshop (NEW) at Fraddon Village Hall

12th September - Manipulated Fabric Workshop at Fraddon Village Hall

17th September - Sail/Tug Boat Workshop at Coast & Country Crafts & Quilts

As usual all the information and photos can be found on our web site.

We're rather excited to be off to the Festival of Quilts at the NEC next week, no doubt our cameras will be busy so we should have something nice to show you on our return.

Bye for now
Sue
