Itchy Fingers

It has been a busy couple of weeks for me, as I have had to do extra stints in the office, but now that is finished, I can start enjoying life again!

I seem to have a pile of projects lining up which I need to start tackling, and I am itching to get started.  The fabric that we made last week on our Turtle Thursday is looking at me, trying to catch my eye! Soon I promise!

But today we have the 2nd workshop in our Begin Patchwork course, and I am looking forward to seeing everyone and to see how lovely their blocks from last time are looking, no pressure ladies!!

We are off to the show at Westpoint on Friday, which promises to be a good day.  We will let you know what caught our eye next time.

Turtle Thursday!

Add caption

After havng to do paperwork on Tuesday we decided that we really had to have a play on Thursday.

So we did and it was great to re-visit 'trapping' fabrics and then zapping the new cloth with the heat gun.

This is just the start, we will show you the finished items later.

Finding inspiration and design

Hi everyone,

Our 'turtle' day was all admin, so nothing interesting to show you, but all necessary background work for future workshops.

However, I have been working into the little stitched book I used for the red JQ's. I enjoyed making the yellow journals and using the hand painted tiles as inspiration, so I want to continue with the theme and see where it leads me.
Here are a few pages which I think could have potential.

I've worked onto painted pages using inktense blocks and acrylics, not drawing the design first to try and recreate the hand painted look, the tile painters have a steadier hand than me.

Taking some of the elements from the designs, I carved into a lino block which I can use for printing and rubbings. After printing onto the page I free machine stitched and painted into the design. Incidentally, the stitched page makes a good print aswell.

It's the back of the stitched page on the left, but the piece on the right is a rubbing onto fabric, sandwiched and free machine quilted.
There's a few more pages but this post is becoming very long so I'll save them for another day, pop back soon.

Retreat Quilt

Here is our latest piece finished and ready for our Retreat Weekend at Degembris Manor Farm.

Ever Decreasing Squares

All those ends have been tied in, the facings attached and slip stitched down, which we think make a nice neat finish to the edges.
Hope you enjoyed seeing it completed.

Another Successful Turtle Day

Sue's beautiful collage

Carolyn's chocolate heaven!

Busy hands!

We had a lovely day today working in our Altered Books.

It has been a little while since we had the chance to experiment as paperwork has needed to be done, but today we well and truely made up for it..........

We used Watercolour Dyes and Inktense Blocks to create the colour, with a little bit of PV and Gesso thrown in.

It may be a little while before they are finished but we will keep you posted on the progress.
